A good chunk of my time is spent running around Town Lake and cycling around the outskirts of Austin. Whether laughing out loud or learning concepts to apply to work, these podcasts keep me good company.
I absolutely adore Peter Sagal, Bill Kurtis, and the whole Wait Wait Don't Tell Me cast. I've seen the live taping multiple times now which are a hoot and much more R-rated than what plays on NPR. Paula Poundstone is my favorite panelist.
Listen NowAbsolutely fascinating storytelling that dives into tech company's history, playbook, and strategy. Ben & David are some of my favorite podcast hosts, and they do a phenomenal job here. Favorites include Tesla, SpaceX, Netflix, and Oprah.
Listen nowThe LP show is Acquired's paid podcast but I think it's worth it. Episodes are geared towards company-builders and VC practitioners with topics like how to price your product, how VCs source and make investment decisions, and how to pitch.
Listen nowBooks have been a steadfast love in my life. The ability to explore different worlds and minds has always captivated me, and I used to spend a lot of my childhood in public libraries and Barnes & Nobles with my parents. I have lists and lists of books I can recommend depending on what you're interested in...so for now, I'll recommend one per genre.
My literary fiction recommendation is a beautiful telling of a group of nomads relearning what it means to be human again after civilization collapsed.
Read ReviewsMy historical fiction recommendation is an enrapturing take on Circe. It's written with such detail and a vivid imagination on a complicated character.
read ReviewsMy SciFi recommendation is the Scythe Trilogy which one could classify as YA but it's a super fun and fast read with witty dialogue and thought-provoking topics.
Read reviewsMy people biography recommendation is Andre Agassi's autobiography. His stories are candid, revealing, and deeply personal. Non-tennis fans will also love it.
read reviewsMy business biography recommendation is Bad Blood. It's unbelievable and reads like fiction. Other recs in this genre are Shoe Dog and The Everything Store.
read reviewsMy nonfiction recommendation is not a fun read, but I think it's a gorgeous, life-altering book that talks about the importance of dying with dignity.
read reviewsCooking is both incredibly relaxing and rewarding for me. I love diving in on the weekends and experimenting with different cuisines. I'm always on the lookout for my next Sunday supper so let me know if there's anything you love!
Never heard of larb? You're in for a treat! It's essentially Laotian ceviche but with ground pork. It's a favorite in our household with its refreshing flavors.
See recipeHaving grown up in Vienna, I'm a sucker for a thin crispy Schnitzel decorated only with lemon juice, although Jaeger style is good too. I pair it with red cabbage.
See recipeBarefoot Contessa nails this one with how easy and delicious it is. The smell after marinating cherry tomatoes, basil and garlic in olive oil is just phenomenal.
See recipeI'm a big fan of Kenji Lopez's The Food Lab even if it's unconventional at times. This pan-seared method for steak will leave many questioning it, but just do it.
See recipeOne of my favorites from Smitten Kitchen. They're good on pasta, on a hoagie, with garlic bread, or just by themselves. Most ingredients are pantry staples thankfully.
See recipeIt doesn't look like much with its neutral colors and mush texture, but holy cow is this one decadent dish. The way the herb butter marinates the potatoes is delicious.
